Babar Azam Loses Pakistan Captaincy: The Pakistan team is constantly surrounded by criticism. Disappointing performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, then the T20 World Cup 2024 and now the shameful defeat in the Test series against Bangladesh. Due to this poor performance, ODI and T20 team head coach Gary Kirsten and Test coach Jason Gillespie have put forward a unique demand in front of PCB. According to sources, Kirsten and Gillespie have put forward an interesting view on who should remain the captain of the Pak team.
According to PTI, the news of Babar Azam and Shan Masoos being removed from captaincy is just a rumour. A PCB source said that Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie agree that both the captains should be given some time to prove themselves. Even Babar and Shan, both have made it clear to the Pakistan Cricket Board that they want some more time as captain.
The coach will decide the team, not the PCB
Forget about taking away the captaincy of Babar Azam and Shan Masood, this topic has not even been discussed. On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi has already left the responsibility of selecting the team and choosing the captain to both the coaches. A workshop named Cricket Connection is also to be held in Lahore this month. It has been revealed that in this upcoming workshop, the issue of captain and team selection will not be raised in the meeting.
This workshop is being conducted only so that Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie can put an agenda in front of the domestic coaches about what they need to do to prepare the players for the national team. At the same time, there is news of Babar Azam remaining the captain in South Africa, Australia and then the Champions Trophy.
