America News: A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from America. Where careless mother Mariah Thomas accidentally placed her child in the oven instead of cradling him to sleep, due to which the child died.
According to local media, this tragic incident happened on Friday (February 9) when police officers in Missouri received information that a one-month-old baby girl was not breathing. After receiving the information, when the police reached the woman’s house in Kansas City, they saw that the girl was seriously burnt and was not responding. The girl was declared dead on the spot.
Girl died due to suffocation
The post mortem has revealed that the child died due to suffocation and burns. One person told Sky News that the girl’s mother put her in the oven instead of her crib for a nap.

According to Daily Express US, the woman’s arrest warrant states that the girl’s clothes were burnt to ashes and her diaper was also burnt. Police also found a burnt baby blanket at the scene. At present, the police have not given any explanation as to how this mistake happened nor have any other circumstances surrounding the incident been revealed.

The girl’s mother, identified as 26-year-old Maria Thomas, has been accused of murdering the girl. Jackson County said, “We appreciate all those who responded to the scene. We recognize the horrific nature of this tragedy and our hearts are saddened by the loss of this precious life.”

Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Gene Peters Baker said in a statement, “We trust the criminal justice system to respond appropriately to these terrible circumstances.” A friend of the woman said the girl was very bubbly. He said that the girl used to smile all the time. Thomas is currently being held in the Jackson County Detention Center.
