Since 1968, Ghevar is being made continuously at this shop and has remained the choice of the people. Due to this, people from many nearby districts reach here and eat ghevar and enjoy sweets.
Ghevar has a different identity in Sarai town of Baghpat. Although Ghevar is available here at every shop, market, but it is prepared differently at Jialal’s famous shop at Baat Agarwal Sweet. People of the same family have been running this shop for three generations. Shop operator Mohit told that Lala Jiyalal started the shop in 1968. Since then ghevar is being prepared at this shop with pure desi ghee. Looking at the variety of ghevar, it is liked so much that people from Meerut, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat taste this ghevar after reaching Sarai town.

The shop operator told that more than 100 kg of ghevar is easily sold daily. In the year 2000, the price of this ghevar was Rs.50 per kg. Now its price is Rs 360 per kg. The shop has a staff of about 20 people. This shop is located in the main market of Sarai town, where all the time a crowd of people gathers to buy and eat Ghevar. Along with the famous Ghevar, other sweets are also prepared at Lala Jiyalal’s shop. He takes full care of the quality and prepares Ghevar as per the choice of the people.
