Metro Service In Dhaka: Today is a big day for metro services in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the country’s first metro rail service on Wednesday (December 28) in the capital Dhaka. In this way, the country’s first metro service started in Bangladesh.

News agency AP told that Japan has funded this metro service in Bangladesh. Along with this, newly appointed Japanese ambassadors Kiminori Iwama and Ichiguchi Tomohide were present.

Remembered the killed Japanese engineers
Inaugurating the metro services, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that today we have achieved one more achievement for the people of our country. During this, he also remembered the six Japanese engineers killed during the construction of the project. These engineers were killed in 2016 during an attack on a cafe in Dhaka by terrorists.

A total of 29 people including 20 hostages were killed in this attack. It is noteworthy that in June PM Hasina inaugurated the 6.51-km (4.04-mile) bridge spanning the Padma River. This bridge was built by China at a cost of about $3.6 billion and paid for from domestic funds.

According to reports, when this metro line becomes fully operational, it will be able to transport more than 60,000 people every hour within an hour. During the inaugural event, the Japanese ambassador talked about the long-standing ties between Bangladesh and Japan, and also underlined his commitment to promote ties in the future.
