Bangladesh Court released MNP Leader: A Bangladesh court has given relief to another accused involved in anti-India terrorism. On Tuesday (24 December), Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) member and former junior minister Abdus Salam Pintu was freed from jail in Bangladesh after 17 years. Which used to fund terrorists of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir (POK) and Bangladesh.
Abdus Salam had helped Pakistan’s terrorist organization Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) to carry out terrorist attacks in India. Apart from this, in Bangladesh, he was given death sentence in 2004 for planning a grenade attack on the then Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

Abdus Salam played a key role in arms procurement, recruitment and training programs for HuJI in terrorist training camps in PoK. Abdus was accused of helping in training madrassa students in handling weapons and explosives and of collecting money and weapons for terrorists in Kashmir.

According to the PTI report, the investigating officer of the 2004 grenade attack case had told a Dhaka court in 2021 that Abdus Salam Pintu had helped HuJI gather weapons to carry out terrorist attacks against India. The investigating officer had also informed the court in 2011 that Abdus Salam and Babar had given training to many youths, especially madrasa students, in using weapons and bombs.
According to the Daily Star report in 2021, the investigating officer had said, “Most of the people Abdus recruited were from POK and Bangladesh. They also raised money, arms and ammunition for militants in Kashmir, India.”
