There is a unique religious place in Umri village located near Chandla in Chhatarpur district, which is known as Ataiya Baba. The most special aspect of this place is that there is no priest at this place, yet a huge crowd of devotees gather here every Monday. People believe that all their wishes are fulfilled at this place, whether it is related to job, health or having a child.

Story of Ataiya Baba
There is an interesting and historical incident hidden behind this religious place of Ataiya Baba. Several hundred years ago, Ataiya Baba, a resident of Churyari, had settled here in Umri village. There were 4 ponds and 84 wells in the village, which made it prosperous. But due to the bad behavior of the king, Ataiya Baba hanged himself with his sacred thread under the Peepal tree of the village. After this, the village was destroyed and everyone including the king left from here. After about a hundred years, the village started getting settled again and the fame and faith of Ataiya Baba started increasing.

Freedom from man-eating leopard
This place of Ataiya Baba especially came to the attention of the people when about 20 years ago a man-eating leopard had troubled the people in the village. Despite all the efforts of the forest department, the leopard was not being caught. Then the villagers sought blessings from Ataiya Baba, and only with his blessings the leopard was caught. After this incident, the number of devotees coming here increased, and gradually this place became a famous religious place.

Wishes are fulfilled without a priest
The most unique thing about this place is that there is no priest here. Nevertheless, devotees believe that all their wishes are fulfilled. People come here to get relief from problems like job, illness, ghosts etc. Devotees make their applications by tying coconuts, and they say that their problems are solved by the grace of Ataiya Baba. Sunil Kumar Tiwari, a devotee, told Local 18 that he himself has experienced recovery from a major accident by the grace of Ataiya Baba. He says that with the blessings of Ataiya Baba, solution to every problem of life is possible.
