Begusarai’s Lassi is a treasure of taste even in its simplicity, see how it is being prepared since 1982

Neeraj Kumar/Begusarai: If we look at food from the point of view of food, then litti chokha and maize roti, mustard greens of Bihar are considered world famous. But if we talk about the special food of Begusarai of Bihar, then the lassi of this place also has its own identity. In today’s time, making lassi is not rocket science. Despite this, making good lassi is not everyone’s cup of tea. If it was, then lassi made by everyone’s hands would become the first choice of the customers.

In today’s time, the lassi made by every person, every shop and every place in the market has its own unique and interesting taste, its own style. But in Begusarai too, lassi has its own unique style. In this city, which rules Begusarai one-sidedly from the point of view of food, there are many such shops where lassi is seen flaunting its different style. But the lassi available in the city’s Sona Jageshwar Complex has a different secret.

In 1982, a bus conductor started a lassi shop
Sona Jageshwar Complex of Begusarai city is near the bus stand and railway station. Here a bus conductor living in the city left his job and opened Tip Top Lassi counter in 1982. At that time the price of a glass of lassi was 5 rupees. Later on, gradually the price also kept increasing with the increasing demand of customers. Now the price of a glass of lassi here has been kept at 45 rupees by them.

Pradeep Mahato’s son Arvind Kumar has been making Tip Top Lassi since 2000. He said that he is making lassi after learning it from his father. To make lassi, he mixes dry fruits, cashews, raisins and cream in cold curd. He prepares the raw material himself. One lota of lassi is ready in 10 to 15 minutes. One lota of lassi is made from a 20 kg curd box. Then that lota is kept in the fridge to cool.

More than 500 glasses sold daily
Om Prakash Bhardwaj said that his skill is appreciated. No one else can make it like him. In lassi, the addition of dry fruits enhances its taste and in other places the colour of saffron enhances its style. It has got the title of lassi that is eaten rather than drunk. Its simplicity makes the lovers of taste crazy about it. This is the reason that 500 glasses of lassi are sold from here every day between 9 am to 10 pm. In such a situation, Tip Top Lassi operators earn up to 10 thousand daily by selling more than 22 thousand.
