Ben Stokes On ICC Scheduling: England Test captain Ben Stokes has slammed the ICC for not paying enough attention to scheduling. It has been said for some time that the growing popularity of domestic T20 leagues around the world is threatening the existence of Test cricket. According to him, the way Test cricket is being handled, due to the increasing popularity of league cricket, Tests are being talked about, which hurts him.
Teams focus on entertainment
England’s Test captain criticized the ICC for not paying attention to the schedule despite a lot of uproar. According to him, teams should focus on entertainment rather than results in Tests. Speaking to the BCC on Monday, Ben Stokes told Ian Botham, scheduling is not given enough attention which it should be. The ODI series against Australia after the T20 World Cup is an example of this. It was a series that made no sense.
Test cricket is important to me
During a conversation with Ian Botham, Ben Stokes further said, I do not like the way Test cricket is being talked about. It is losing the attention of the fans due to all the new formats and franchise competitions. We know that there are many opportunities for players to walk away from Test cricket. But for me Test cricket is important. During this, he also indicated that the Test playing countries should follow the aggressive strategy of England. According to him, there should be more entertainment than the result which will play an important role in popularizing the match played over five days.
