CV Ananda Bose: West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose has been given Z Plus security. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has taken this decision on the basis of inputs received from intelligence agencies. The Ministry of Home Affairs had received information that there was some kind of threat to Anand Bose. This is the reason why he has been given Z category security cover.
Let us inform that retired civil servant CV Anand Bose was sworn in as the new Governor of West Bengal on November 23 last year. He was administered the oath of office by Calcutta High Court Chief Justice Prakash Srivastava in the presence of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, other state ministers and Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee at a function at the Raj Bhavan.
Bose, a 1977 batch retired IAS officer of Kerala cadre, was on 17 November named as the new Governor of West Bengal. Now the security agencies and the government have become alert about their safety. They will be kept in the Z+ security category.
What is Z plus security?
Z+ is the highest grade of central protection cover. A Z-category security guard is usually provided with 35 to 40 commandos on a rotational basis, depending on the threat perception. The security cover includes a 22-member crew consisting of 4-5 NSG commandos + police personnel and is India’s third largest security.
