Rahul Kumar, a third class student of Government Upgraded Middle School Purushottampur in Bettiah, died by drowning in a pit. The incident took place during the lunch break on Saturday. It is being told that Rahul Kumar along with his friends Saurabh and Alam and two-three other friends had gone to bathe in the pit near the railway track next to the school. On receiving the information of the incident, a large number of parents including Rahul Kumar’s family reached the school and started creating a ruckus.

The parents have accused the school management of negligence. Along with this, the people creating ruckus were intent on beating the teachers. Somehow the teachers locked themselves in a room and informed the police. On receiving the information, Additional Police Station Officer Satish Kumar reached the school with his team. Then after a lot of effort, he took the body of the deceased Rahul Kumar into custody and took it to the police station. On the other hand, the angry mob was pacified by persuasion. Also, the teachers locked in the room were somehow taken out of the crowd and taken to the police station safely.

The parents of the deceased Rahul Kumar, father Guddu Shah, mother Radha Rani and uncle Deepak Shah were crying inconsolably. Many parents who reached the spot including Sheikh Hasnain, Guddu Shah, Sheikh Munna, Sheikh Lalbabu accused the school management of negligence. The parents said that when the children come to school, the teachers do not have control over them. That is why this incident happened. After all, who will be responsible for Rahul Kumar’s death.

On the other hand, the acting headmaster of the school, Isteyak Ahmed and the class teacher, Dinesh Kumar, said that Rahul Kumar did not come to school today. Due to the lack of boundary wall in the school, children run away here and there, but efforts are made to ensure that the children stay in the school and study.

On the other hand, BEO Krishna Kumari said that the deceased Rahul Kumar was a third class student. On asking the headmaster and teachers, it was found that he had not gone to school today. She called this incident sad. Also, she said that after talking to the zonal officer, every effort will be made to get compensation for the family of the deceased Rahul Kumar.
