The BHU administration had to finally withdraw the decision to appoint Prof. Vikas Agarwal as the head of the cardiology department of IMS BHU in place of Prof. Omshankar. After almost two months (55 days), on July 18, the BHU administration issued an order for this.

It is said that Prof. Omshankar will be the head of the department. Prof. Omshankar sat on a hunger strike in the department from 11 May to 30 May, demanding that the entire fourth floor of the superspeciality block and half of the fifth floor be allotted to the cardiology department in the BHU hospital.

The special thing is that even during the fast, Prof. Omshankar, along with discharging administrative responsibilities, also gave advice to the patients and conducted necessary tests. Along with this, he also guided the team that was to perform surgery on the patients in the Cath Lab from the fasting spot in the department.

On May 24, the university administration issued an order citing the unavailability of Prof. Omshankar in the department and handed over the responsibility of the post of head to Prof. Vikash Agarwal. In continuation of this order, Prof. Omshankar wrote a letter to the university administration and called the order of removing him from the post of head of the department wrong.

They had also expressed their objection and appealed to withdraw this decision. Now the university administration has withdrawn its order of May 24 by issuing an order on July 18.
