Kishan Maharaj’s disciple Pandit Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari taught the nuances of tabla

Under the joint aegis of Faculty of Music and Stage Arts of Banaras Hindu University and SIDBI Speak Macay, a five-day tabla workshop was organized on Tuesday at Dr. Premlata Sharma Auditorium of Sangeet Shastra. In which about 100 students will be provided tabla training. The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Shashi Kumar, Head of the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Professor Praveen Uddhav, Head of the Instrumental Department, Professor Virendra Nath Mishra, Professor Rajesh Shah and the chief guest Tabla’s renowned artist Pandit Sukhwinder Singh Namdhari.
In his statement given during the workshop, along with tabla, he also provided profound knowledge to the children on how the life and personality of an artist should be. The students present in the workshop got to know the theka, sur taal and nuances of tabla and practiced for 3 hours. He was moved by the memory of the time spent with Late Pandit Kishan Maharaj as his great disciple. Mr. Vijay Kapoor provided accompaniment on the harmonium with him in the workshop. Other professors of the faculty, Dr. Prem Kishore Mishra, Dr. Supriya Shah, Chair Person of Spic Macay, Umesh Seth, Pawan Singh were present on this occasion. The program was conducted by research student Mrinal Ranjan.
