Bihar Police has arrested former BJP MLA Jawahar Prasad and Shahnawaz Alam alias Lakhani in connection with the violence in Sasaram. For this, the court had issued a warrant. Police arrested Jawahar Prasad and Shahnawaz Alam from their house late on Friday night. At present, the Sasaram police is interrogating both of them in this matter. He is accused of inciting violence. However, his supporters say that Jawahar Prasad had no hand in the violence in Sasaram. On the other hand, the wife of former MLA Jawahar Prasad says that the allegations made against him are completely wrong and baseless. Police is making false allegations. They are being unnecessarily harassed.

Rohtas SP Vineet Kumar has said that former MLA Jawahar Prasad has been arrested from Lashkariganj Sasaram and Shahnawaz Alam alias Lakhani from Madar Darwaza after the warrant was issued from the court in the case of violence in Sasaram last days. So far 63 people have been arrested in this case. Raids are being conducted to arrest the remaining 38 accused. Two people have also surrendered in the court due to the police crackdown.

According to the same police, some important clues were found against former MLAs Jawahar Prasad and Shahnawaz Alam. That’s why he has been arrested. The police had lodged an FIR against three BJP leaders in connection with the violence that broke out after the Ram Navami procession. After this all the three leaders had surrendered. All three were identified as Dr. Shivnath Chaudhary, Robin Kesari and Sonu Sinha, residents of Sasaram.

Making serious allegations against the government and the police, senior BJP leader Rajendra Singh said that it is not appropriate to arrest the person who stopped the riots. Further work will be done after preparing BJP’s strategy regarding this. On the other hand, BJP leader Trivikram Singh said that it is not proper to pick up the MLA from the house at night. When the former MLAs along with the office bearers were engaged in restoring peace during the riots and making them the accused, the BJP leaders are being accused with a sense of revenge. On the other hand, the former MLA’s wife told that between 11:30 to 12:00 on Friday, the police reached home last night. As soon as the door opened, she started searching for the former MLA along with his son Santosh Kumar. But as the former MLA’s son Santosh Kumar was not staying at home, the police took the former MLA Jawahar Prasad along without informing him. The wife says that the allegations leveled against her are absolutely baseless.
