Begusarai court acquitted in 2015
Today, Begusarai Civil Court has found 12 people including BJP leader Mithilesh Singh guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment. In this double murder case, Begusarai Civil Court had acquitted all the accused in 2015. The family members then filed the case in the High Court. After being admitted in the High Court, the hearing started again in the Begusarai Civil Court itself and the same court which had acquitted these accused, sentenced all of them to life imprisonment.

In 2004, two people including PACS president and Congress leader Lalan Singh were murdered in Shamho police station area. After this, Additional District and Sessions Judge Shaba Alam heard the case. 10 witnesses testified during the hearing. After this the sentence was pronounced. At the same time, the court has arrested Roshan Singh, Ravindra Singh, Randhir Kumar alias Dukha, Sunil Singh, Sudhir Singh, Sanjeev Singh, Komal Singh, Shaligram Singh, Anil Singh, Manoj Singh and Ranjit Singh along with BJP leader Mithilesh Singh, resident of Akbarpur Purani Dih. Sentenced under sections 302, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code. Mukesh Singh, resident of Akbarpur Purani Dih, was an eyewitness to this massacre. Mukesh Singh had also filed a case in this matter. In the allegation, he had told that at around 8 pm on March 8, 2004, my brother Sipul Singh and PACS President Lalan Singh were surrounded near Thakurbari. After this he was shot dead.

After this murder, Mukesh Singh had told the police that ‘I, Lalan Singh and Sipul Singh were returning home after distributing relief material among the victims of the fire. Meanwhile, near Thakurbari, other people including Mithilesh Singh surrounded him and started firing. We somehow jumped out of the car and hid in the bush and kept watching the incident. After committing the murder, Mithilesh Singh had also looted Lalan Singh’s rifle.
Eyewitnesses narrated the incident
According to the eyewitness, ‘All the accused started trying to dispose of both the bodies by dragging them. But after moving about 200 meters, a crowd of people gathered. After this all the accused fled from there. In the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shaba Alam, Additional Public Prosecutor Dilip Kumar testified 10 witnesses on behalf of the prosecution, while lawyer Shah Izzur Rehman presented the case on behalf of the victim’s family. At the same time, lawyers Mansoor Alam, Shashi Bhushan Jha and Rajesh Singh presented their side from the defense side.

Additional Public Prosecutor Dilip Kumar said that ‘Begusarai Court has given a historic verdict today. 12 people including BJP leader Mithilesh Singh have been sentenced to life imprisonment. This is the first time that the District Court had acquitted all the accused. Again in the hearing held in the same court, ADJ-4 sentenced all the 12 accused to life imprisonment. All the accused in the murder case were released by the District Court in 2015. After this, Mukesh Singh filed a petition in Patna High Court against the decision of the District Judge. The High Court started the case again and ordered to complete the hearing within four months.
