In addition to the Art, Culture and Youth Department, a separate Sports Department was created in Bihar. On the advice of the Chief Minister, on Wednesday the Governor has given the responsibility of the Sports Department to Jitendra Kumar Rai. Jitendra Kumar Rai was till now looking after sports under the Art Culture Youth Department, but now he has also become the Sports Minister as an independent department. Jitendra Kumar Rai has become the first Sports Minister of Bihar. While issuing the notification, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat, Dr. S. Siddhartha has given him the responsibility of Additional Sports Minister of Art, Culture and Youth Department.
Know who is Jitendra Kumar Rai
Jitendra Kumar Rai is a resident of Bhualpur of Madhaura block of Saran district. RJD MLA cum Minister Jitendra Kumar Rai started his politics from RJD Student Youth in 2001. Then in 2002, after winning the post of Ward Commissioner, he became the Deputy Chairman of Chapra Municipal Council. Then in 2005, he contested the Legislative Assembly election as MLA from Madhaura on JDU ticket, in which he was defeated. Then in 2006 he joined Rashtriya Janata Dal and in the next year i.e. 2007 again became the candidate of Chapra Municipal Council in which Jitendra Kumar Rai won. Then in 2010 he became MLA on Rashtriya Janata Dal ticket. His father late Yaduvanshi Rai has also been an MLA from Madhaura.
The ongoing tussle over seat distribution
On the question of seat sharing, the distance towards Congress is continuously increasing among the allies of the opposition alliance India. JDU has accused Congress of playing into the hands of BJP and said that it is busy in serving its own interests instead of forming an alliance. In June, just before the opposition unity meeting was to be held, Minister Santosh Suman had resigned. After that, Congress is continuously demanding that the cabinet should be expanded and two more ministers should be made from Congress. But the expansion has not happened yet. The matter went from June to December. Regarding this, many times Rahul Gandhi had also talked about increasing the seats of Congress.
