In Bihar’s Saran, a minor has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment and fine in the case of rape. Special Judge POCSO cum Additional District and Sessions Judge Pashtam Suman Kumar Diwakar held accused Ranjan Singh guilty in the POCSO session case of Amnaur police station area. After this, the court sentenced the convict to 20 years rigorous imprisonment and 25 thousand fine under section 4 of POCSO. In case of non-payment of fine, one year of simple imprisonment and three years of punishment under the IT Act and fine of one lakh rupees will have to be given. Failure to pay the fine will result in six months’ imprisonment. Ranjan Singh is a resident of Samaspura under Bheldi police station.

Along with this, the Bihar government has ordered to give financial assistance of five lakh rupees to the victim. Another accused in the case, Ramesh Singh, was ordered to be released by the court on April 20 due to lack of evidence. The mother of the 13-year-old minor victim lodged an FIR on March 18, 2022.

The victim’s mother had told in the FIR that on December 22, 2021, her daughter who studied in class eight. While going to school, the school peon’s boy along with his two friends used to continuously molest her girl. On the day of the incident, he followed her to the house.

During this, the victim’s mother had gone to Delhi and her father had also gone to Barauni. The girl was alone at home. Taking advantage of this, the accused along with his friends went to her house and raped the minor. Along with this, his video was later made viral.

On behalf of the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor, Public Prosecutor Surendra Nath Singh and his colleague Ashwani Kumar, Advocates Satish Rai and Shashi Kumar on behalf of Suchika and Advocate Sunita Kumari, on behalf of the defense side, kept their respective sides in the court. A total of seven witnesses were examined on behalf of the prosecution in the court.
