Satyabhushan Arya, Special Judge of ADJ II Co-Products Act of Darbhanga Court of Bihar, on Friday sentenced two liquor traders, including a woman, to five years imprisonment each. Along with this, he has also imposed a fine of one lakh rupees on both.

According to the information, Tetari Devi, wife of Suresh Mahto, resident of Dekuli of Bahadurpur police station area and Manohar Jha, son of Shankar Jha, resident of Kusothar of Bahadurpur police station area, have been sentenced to five years imprisonment and fine of one lakh.

Tetari Devi, wife of Suresh Mahato, resident of Dekuli of Bahadurpur police station area, has been proved guilty of doing illegal liquor business in the Jio suit made out of the product police station case. Under this, he has been sentenced to five years of imprisonment and a fine of one lakh. For not paying the fine, Tetri Devi will have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months.

On the other hand, Manohar Jha, son of Shankar Jha, a resident of Kusothar, Bahadurpur, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment under Section 47 of the Excise Act, in the Geo suit made out of the Fecal OP scandal of Bahadurpur police station area. At the same time, a fine of one lakh has also been sentenced. In case of non-payment of the fine, Manohar will also have to undergo an additional six months’ imprisonment.

Special PP Hariram Sahu said on the punishment of liquor traders at present that justice is being speeded up by summoning the prosecution witnesses and giving evidence to the court.
