The court of Special Excise Act Judge I Shriram Jha of Bihar’s Darbhanga Civil Court gave a historic decision on Wednesday. The court has sentenced Haryana liquor businessman Rakesh Kumar to ten years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

According to the information, Kamtaul police station had arrested Rakesh Kumar, a resident of Gurugram, Haryana, with 340 cartoons of liquor along with the truck near Vinod brick kiln in Kamtaul police station area. Kamtaul police station case number 216/23 is registered in this regard. Hearing this case, the court of Special Judge of Excise Act I Shriram Jha has sentenced Rakesh Kumar of Pataudi, Gurugram, who was caught with 2937 liters of foreign liquor on interstate Haryana, to ten years of rigorous imprisonment. At the same time, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the liquor smuggler. Also, if the fine is not paid, the accused will have to face additional punishment of six months.

In fact, 2,937 liters of liquor was seized in 340 cartons including a truck near Vinod Brick Kiln in Kamtaul police station area of ​​Darbhanga district. Also, Rakesh Kumar, son of Lakshminarayan, resident of Babar Sah of Pataudi police station area of ​​Gurugram district of Haryana was arrested.

During the hearing of this case, Rakesh Kumar was convicted in the court of Special Excise Act Judge I Shriram Jha. After that the court sentenced Rakesh Kumar to ten years imprisonment and also imposed a fine.

Special PP Hareram Sahu said that the case was pending in GO case no. 2070/23 regarding the recovery of 2,937 liters of liquor in 340 cartons. Additional Special Public Prosecutor of Product Abhay Pathak said that after taking the testimony of witnesses in the court in this case, the crime against the accused Rakesh, who was caught even before he could deliver the liquor to the liquor traders after taking a huge consignment of liquor, was proved. The prosecution played a very effective role in this.
