Making important changes in the administrative service, the central government on Wednesday (28 August 2024) appointed senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Rajvinder Singh Bhatti as the chief of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Daljit Singh Chaudhary as the chief of Border Security Force (BSF). Rajvinder Singh Bhatti is a 1990 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Bihar cadre.

Both IPS officers will retire next year

According to an order of the Personnel Ministry, Bhatti has been appointed as the Director General of CISF for a tenure from the date of assuming charge till the date of his retirement on 30 September 2025. The ministry said that Daljit Singh Chaudhary, currently the chief of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), has been appointed as the Director General of BSF for a tenure till the date of his retirement on 30 November 2025. Daljit Singh Chaudhary is a 1990 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Rajwinder Singh Bhatti has worked in various capacities in Bihar. Apart from serving as City SP of Patna, he also served as Assistant Superintendent of Police (Flood), SP in Jehanabad, Gopalganj, Purnia, DIG (Siwan), IG (Patna Zone), IG (Security), Joint Director of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Director General (Civil Aviation).

Rajwinder Singh Bhatti rose to national fame when he meticulously planned and arrested former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin from his Delhi residence in November 2005. Earlier, no police officer had dared to arrest this RJD strongman because of his strong political influence.

While working as ASP of Barh, Rajwinder Singh Bhatti arrested the then RJD MLA and strongman Dilip Kumar Singh from his Patna residence. Dilip Kumar Singh was a minister in Lalu Prasad Yadav’s government and the elder brother of former Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh.
