In Muzaffarpur, a drunkard son killed his mother. Hearing the screams of the deceased, other family members and villagers reached there and together they caught the accused son and first beat him up and then handed him over to the police. The incident took place in Prahladpur of Mushahari police station area. The police is engaged in further action in the case. The family is mourning due to the incident. The deceased has been identified as Shanti Devi (50).
Family members said- he used to demand money for drugs
Regarding the incident, the local people say that the deceased’s son Manoj Kumar Manjhi was often in a state of intoxication and used to always beat up the family members. Seeing his actions, his wife also left him and started living at her maternal home. But he was not giving up his addiction. During this time, he used to take money from his mother and secretly consume drugs. After which today when he did not get money for consuming drugs, he attacked his mother Shanti Devi with a brick and injured her. The woman died in critical condition due to the brick attack. After the incident, a crowd of local villagers and other family members gathered at the spot and caught the accused son and beat him up badly and handed him over to the police. The deceased’s younger son Vinod Manjhi says that the elder brother was always intoxicated. He started beating his mother due to his addiction. After which his family left Manoj. He started consuming drugs by stealing the money of the house and now he has killed his mother by crushing her with a brick.
Police engaged in investigation
Regarding the incident, the police of Mushahari police station says that a son informed the villagers and family about the murder of his mother. The accused son was caught on the spot and brought to the police station. The body has been taken into custody and sent to the medical college for post-mortem. The entire case is being investigated.
