Nitish government will face the litmus test on Monday amid talk of sports being held in Bihar. All the parties of the party and the opposition are scared of the possibility of sabotage, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah himself has taken charge to help the Nitish government cross the hurdle of trust vote. He is continuously taking reports of the developments in Patna.
All eyes are on Congress and JDU in the matter of getting the trust vote of the government and removing Assembly Speaker Awadh Bihari Chaudhary from the post. All the MLAs of the opposition RJD have been kept at the house of former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav.
JDU-BJP are trying to keep the MLAs from the ruling party simple. Five MLAs including Bima Bharti, Sudarshan, Dilip Rai and Rinku Singh remained absent from the JDU meeting called on Sunday. Even its ten MLAs did not attend Saturday’s meeting. Meanwhile, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party HAM has issued a whip asking all four MLAs to vote in support of the government.
BJP’s concern also increased
All the BJP MLAs have also been brought from Gaya to Patna on Sunday. All these MLAs were in Gaya for the training camp. However, BJP’s concern has increased due to the absence of three MLAs in the camp.
RJD-Congress MLA under house arrest in Tejashwi’s house
Due to fear of defection, all 79 RJD MLAs are under house arrest at Tejashwi Yadav’s residence since Saturday night. 19 Congress MLAs who returned from Hyderabad on Sunday night have also been kept with them.
mathematics of victory
There are 243 MLAs in Bihar Assembly and the majority figure is 122. The focus is on the only MLA of AIMIM. If AIMIM does not participate in the voting, the magic figure to gain majority will be 121. The ruling alliance has 78 BJP MLAs, 45 JDU, 4 HAM and one independent MLA. Thus this figure is 128, which is six more than the magic figure of majority. Even if five JDU MLAs adopt a rebellious attitude, there will still be 123 MLAs in favor of the ruling alliance.
