Four members of a family drowned while bathing in the Gandak river near Bakhri village in Baikunthpur police station area of Gopalganj district. All four are still missing. People present on the spot tried hard to save the four drowning people but all four were swept away in the strong current of the river. The accident happened when everyone was bathing in the river after the Dashkarma rites of Shraddha. The incident took place at Munja Boulder Ghat located near Bakhri village.
It is being told that one of the family members had died 10 days ago and today the family had reached the banks of Gandak river after performing the last rites of the deceased. The missing people have been identified as 18-year-old Sujeet Kumar and 14-year-old Sumit Kumar, son of Satan Rai, resident of Yadavpur Matiyari village of Baikunthpur police station area, 19-year-old Nikhil Kumar, son of teacher Naval Kishore Rai and 18-year-old Sanjeev Kumar, son of Shrilal Yadav.
Four people drowned one after the other during the rescue operation
There was a Dashkarma ceremony at the house of teacher Naval Kishore Rai. After the Dashkarma ceremony, everyone was bathing in the river. While trying to save a drowning person in the river, four people drowned one after the other. After this accident, there is chaos among the family members of the deceased. On receiving the information about the incident, Baikunthpur police station in-charge Rajiv Kumar Singh reached the spot with divers and SDRF team. At present, the search for the four people is going on in the river.

According to the information, there was a Dashkarma ceremony at the house of teacher Naval Kishore Rai, resident of Yadavpur Matiyari near Bakhri village on Monday. The four youths had reached the garden to participate in it. After getting their heads shaved, they went into the river to take a bath and in the meantime, one by one they started drowning in the river. Among those who drowned were two real brothers Sujit and Sumit, who are sons of Satan Rai.
