Under “Gamla Yojana”, residents of urban areas will get 75 percent subsidy for rooftop gardening in 2024-25. This scheme will prove to be especially beneficial for cities like Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur.

Through this scheme, farmers can grow a variety of vegetables and fruits in their pots by spending only Rs 10,000. Out of this cost, they will get a subsidy of Rs 7,500. Due to which gardening will become even easier. This scheme not only encourages gardening but also ensures availability of fresh fruits and vegetables to the urban people.

Under the Gamla scheme, different types of plants can be planted in pots of different sizes. For example, basil, ashwagandha, mint, aloe vera and stevia can be grown in a 10-inch pot. At the same time, snake plant, money plant, rose and moonlight plants can be planted in a 12 inch pot.

Apart from this, it has been advised to plant plants like Erica Palm, Aparajita, Curry Leaf and Bougainvillea in a 14 inch pot. Apart from this, you can also grow guava, mango, lemon, sapota, banana and rubber plants in a 16 inch pot.
