Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar hoisted the tricolor on the 75th Republic Day amidst dense fog at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. He took the salute of the parade and inspected the tableaux. The Governor said that 75 years ago, a glorious sovereign, democratic republic was established in the country and the foundation of governance based on the parliamentary system was laid. Through the Constitution, social, economic and political justice and freedom of thought, expression, belief, religion and worship have been ensured for all citizens of the nation. The principles of equality of status and opportunity and providing a dignified life to the people provided by the Constitution are our guideposts. With their help, the visions of overall development of the country are being fulfilled.

Under this, till now more than 3 lakh 63 thousand youth have been given government jobs, in which a large number have become teachers, police personnel and officials. At present, the process of restoration of 1 lakh 27 thousand posts is going on which includes posts of police, health, land and revenue and other departments. Also, about 1 lakh youth have been employed on contract. Apart from this, about 3 lakh posts have been created in various departments on which appointments will be made. Apart from this, employment has been provided to more than 5 lakh youth. The state government is engaged in this work and this target will be achieved soon.
The total population of Bihar is 13 crore 7 lakh 25 thousand 310.
The Governor said that the state government has conducted caste based census with its own resources and its data has been released, according to which the total population of Bihar is 13 crore 7 lakh 25 thousand 310, out of which 53 lakh 72 thousand 22 people are living outside Bihar. According to caste-based multiplication, the population of backward class is 27.12 percent, extremely backward class is 36.01 percent, scheduled caste is 19.65 percent, scheduled tribe is 1.68 percent and general category is 15.52 percent. For the social upliftment of all the weaker sections of the society, the reservation limit in the state has been increased from 50 percent to 65 percent. A law has been passed for this. 10 percent reservation is already available for the economically weaker general category. All together the total reservation has reached 75 percent. The state government has requested the Central Government to include the new reservation law in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.
