Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on Friday that Bihar is being given a record amount this time. While Bihar got 1132 crores from 2009 to 2014, a record 8505 crores is being given for the next financial year. The Railway Minister appealed to the Chief Minister that he will make meaningful efforts for the projects that are about to start in Bihar. Vaishnav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given record budget amount to Bihar to fulfill the aspirations of the people and now the Bihar government should come forward and try to get these works done. He appealed to the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to expedite the process where land acquisition or permission is required in Bihar and take positive initiative where the Railways needs help in the matter of law and order.
Will make 87 stations world class
The Railway Minister informed that 57 projects worth Rs 74,880 crore are underway in Bihar, covering 5,267 km. Rs 8568 crore has been given to East Central Railway, out of which Rs 8505 crore has been given to Bihar only. He informed that preparations are on to make 87 stations of Bihar world class. 1,518 crore will be spent on new lines, 138 crore on gauge conversion from minor to broad gauge, 2950 crore will be spent on laying double line. Apart from this, up to Rs 141 crore will be spent in the next financial year for traffic facilities. 800 crore will be spent on track renewal, 396 crore on road safety work (road overbridge-underbridge), while 79.5 crore will be spent on bridge, tunnel and approach. A separate provision of Rs 65 crore has been made for level crossing in road safety. He informed that work worth Rs 630 crore will be done in East Central Railway for consumer facilities.
