Due to continuous rains in Nepal for the last few days, the risk of floods has increased in Kosi, Seemanchal and Mithilachal. A record 6.81 lakh cusecs of water is expected to be discharged in Kosi river on Saturday. This is happening after 56 years. Not only this, there is a possibility of record discharge of six lakh cusecs of water in Gandak river after 21 years. In view of the danger of flood, the Water Resources Department has issued an alert for the next two days. The district administration team is continuously monitoring the embankments.

We are ready to deal with any emergency

Four lakh 18 thousand 285 cusecs of water has been discharged from Kosi Barrage at 8 am on Saturday morning. Whereas in Barah area, 3 lakh 53 thousand cusecs of water has been discharged. The district administration team is still busy in evacuating people from the embankment areas. Water Resources Minister Vijay Chaudhary said that we are ready to deal with any emergency. All officials have been asked to monitor the embankments 24 hours. High alert has been declared for the next 48 hours.
