This time his nephew and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan has contested the elections from here. In front is Rashtriya Janata Dal’s veteran former minister Shivchandra Ram. Although Shivchandra is in front, but what really remains to be seen is whether Pashupati Kumar plays a role in making Paras’ nephew win or in defeating him. Why is there so much discussion about Paras?
Pashupati Kumar Paras had won this seat in 2019 by a margin of more than two lakh votes. It was Shivchandra Ram who lost. This seat belonged to late Ram Vilas Paswan and after him Pashupati Kumar Paras took command from here. Chirag Paswan had become MP from Jamui last time. After the death of his father, Chirag was considering himself an unopposed candidate of the National Democratic Alliance from Hajipur parliamentary constituency. But, uncle Paras was not ready to give up this seat. In this insistence, he also resigned from the post of minister in the current central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After resigning, after exploring possibilities everywhere, when Paras returned to NDA empty-handed, he did not get any seat here to contest the elections. Now in Hajipur even Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his feelings towards Chirag Paswan. Earlier, Pashupati Paras had told that he is busy campaigning whole-heartedly for the NDA candidates. But, the question is about Hajipur. If Hajipur, which made Paras win by a margin of two lakhs after making late Ram Vilas Paswan win by a record number of votes, is seen negligent in supporting Chirag, then the finger will definitely be pointed at the sitting MP Paras. Meaning, even though voting on Monday will be in the names of Chirag Paswan and Shiv Chandra Ram, the litmus test will also be for Paras.
All-round siege against Chirag
Not only the Mahagathbandhan in front wants to defeat Chirag Paswan from his family’s traditional seat, some of his own people are also involved in this campaign. Slowly, the identity of those own people has also been revealed. Still, Chirag realizes that somewhere there is a noose around his neck. Chirag also knows that this noose is from some leaders of Lok Janshakti Party (United). Therefore, he is working on it. In fact, Tejashwi Yadav, who took over the command of the Mahagathbandhan after defeating Chirag, also wants to prevent any new face of his age from standing in Bihar. This is also a reason for betting on Munna Shukla for the Vaishali seat. Shukla is also working in this direction. From Vaishali, Munna Shukla has taken charge for Shivchandra Ram, while from Saran and Diara area, Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family are putting all their strength in the struggle to contain Chirag. Meaning, there is complete arrangement to make Chirag’s path difficult – both inside and outside. In such a situation, whether Pashupati Kumar Paras and Prince Raj bring their supporters to the polling booth in Hajipur on Monday or not, their future within the NDA will be decided.
