A 55 year old middle-aged man was beaten to death in Munger. The only reason was that he refused to pay the ransom. Told the bullies to ask for water, fruits and water chestnuts from my master. The deceased was identified as Lalu Manjhi, resident of Chapran Kothi village of Sonvarsha Kachhari police station area of Saharsa district. After getting information about the incident, the police of Nayaramnagar police station reached the spot and took the body into custody and sent it to Munger Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. Police say that there was a dispute over plucking water chestnut fruit during Chhath Puja. The laborer was murdered in this dispute. Raids are being conducted in search of criminals. People say that he was plucking water chestnut fruits for Chhath Puja in the private pond of Shiv Shankar Yadav located in Bhagichak village.

Villager Mohan Kumar told that the deceased Lalu Manjhi was plucking water fruits. A village youth came and asked for water, fruits and water chestnuts, then the laborer said to ask for it from the owner, after which the young man started abusing. Within no time, he along with his associates attacked the laborer. He was beaten to death with sticks. Nayaramnagar police station said that the matter is being investigated.
