A major portion (girder) of the country’s longest bridge on Kosi river, connecting Supaul and Madhubani districts, collapsed. A laborer died after getting buried in it. More than nine laborers are injured. Three to four laborers are also buried under the girder. Once again after the bridge accident in Bihar, the opposition and the public are raising questions on the quality of the bridge. Local people say that we told the engineer of the bridge construction company several times that the quality is not good. But, neither of them listened. The result is in front of everyone today. The District Magistrate of Supaul has said that the matter will be investigated. Sadar SDM Indraveer Kumar said that the crane is coming from Madhubani. Everything will become clear only after the guard is lifted.

Construction of the country’s longest bridge under Bharatmala project.

The country’s longest bridge is being constructed under the important Bharatmala project of the Central Government. It is being built by the Ministry of Transport and Highways at a cost of Rs 1200 crore. Its length is more than 10.2 kilometers. The total length of the bridge including the approach road will be 13.3 kilometers. Trans Rail Company is getting the bridge construction work done. Local people say that the company officials and engineers did not come to the spot after the accident. People also say that the construction of the bridge was to be completed by 2023, but due to Corona and floods, the time for construction of the bridge increased.
