Before the unity meeting of opposition parties on June 23, Nitish Kumar has suffered a major setback in Bihar. Santosh Suman, son of Jitan Ram Manjhi, who was an ally in the government, has resigned from the Nitish cabinet. Before submitting his resignation, Santosh Suman had expressed his displeasure with the government. He has not yet made any announcement as to his next step, but his resignation is considered important after his father Jitan Ram Manjhi’s meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah in the past.
This resignation of Santosh Suman has come just a day before the Bihar Core Committee meeting with top BJP leaders, hence this resignation is being viewed with special attention. It is discussed that Jitan Ram Manjhi may once again go to the NDA camp before the Lok Sabha elections. He was demanding five seats for himself even while being in the Grand Alliance, but Nitish Kumar is not ready to give him so many seats. If there is a consensus among other parties before the Lok Sabha elections, then more pressure may increase in the distribution of seats. Therefore, after being disappointed by Nitish Kumar, Jitan Ram Manjhi can put his boat on the NDA’s ghat considering the BJP as his helmsman.
However, the BJP is also working on a strategy to take along its former allies in Bihar. Apart from Jitan Ram Manjhi, she is also trying to woo Chirag Paswan, Upendra Kushwaha and Mukesh Sahni. In such a situation, Jitan Ram Manjhi is not likely to get that many seats even in the NDA camp, but looking at the better prospects of politics from Center to Bihar, it is being speculated that he may once again come with NDA.
