A constable posted for EVM security in Arrah, Bihar committed suicide by shooting himself with his INSAS rifle. The incident took place at Krishi Bhawan of Nawada police station area, where he was on duty in the guard room built for EVM security. The deceased constable was Hemant Kumar (27), son of Shiv Paswan, resident of urban village under Ghoswari police station area of ​​Patna district. There was a stir in the police department after the incident. As soon as information about the incident was received, Bhojpur DM and SP themselves reached the spot and started investigating the matter.

Regarding the incident, his colleague says that constable Hemant Kumar was deployed on election duty by Bhojpur Police. Krishi Bhawan was also made a PAT godown, where safe EVMs are kept for the Lok Sabha elections. Apart from Hemant Kumar, two other constables were also on duty there but one of them was on leave while the other constable had gone to the market to buy vegetables. When he came back, he saw that the door was locked from inside, after which he took the help of the window and saw that there was blood spread all around the room and Hemant Kumar had fallen on the ground. The constable immediately informed the senior officer about the incident. As soon as information about the incident was received, SP Pramod Kumar and DM Rajkumar and other officials reached the spot. The door of the room was broken on the instructions of the officials. On entering inside, it was seen that Hemant Kumar had his rifle lying near him and he was shot in the head.
