Liquor mafias of UP have attacked the Bihar Police team in Gopalganj. Then the police also took action due to which the liquor mafia had to run away to save their lives. However, a sub-inspector and a watchman have been injured in stone pelting. Both the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital Gopalganj for first aid, where examination and X-ray revealed that Sub Inspector Saroj Kumar was hit by a bullet in his right hand. The seriously injured Sub Inspector was referred to Patna Medical College. The incident took place in Salehpur village of Vishambharpur police station area.
Liquor mafia of Uttar Pradesh was entering Bihar with liquor
Regarding the incident, the police say that information was received that the liquor mafia of Uttar Pradesh is entering Gopalganj through Gandak river to buy liquor to spend in the Lok Sabha elections. As soon as the information was received, the police of Vishambharpur police station laid siege and started raids to arrest the liquor mafia. Seeing themselves surrounded by the police, the liquor mafia of Kushinagar district of UP took the help of the villagers and started pelting stones and firing on the police team. During the firing, Gopalganj police also retaliated, in which Sub Inspector Saroj Kumar was shot in his right hand. The seriously injured Sub Inspector was referred to Patna Medical College.
Smugglers identified, smugglers are from Kushinagar district of UP
Regarding the incident, SP Swarn Prabhat has said that the Gandak river is an inaccessible area, hence the liquor mafia fled towards UP. He said that the liquor mafia has been identified. This smuggling was taking place from Kushinagar district of UP. SIT is conducting raids under the leadership of Sadar SDPO Pranjal to arrest the accused. After this incident, the police along with paramilitary forces have started search operation in the inaccessible Diara area of UP border and Gandak river.
