Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, in a program organized at ‘Sankalp’ located at 1, Anne Marg on Thursday, distributed Rs 7,000 per family directly into their accounts through DBT to 3.21 lakh families affected by the flood (second phase) in 18 districts of the state. The payment of total ex-gratia relief amount of Rs 225.25 crore was transferred by clicking the mouse. In the first phase, Rs 306.97 crore was transferred by the CM to the accounts of four lakh 38 thousand 529 families. Whereas today in the second phase, Rs 225.25 crore was transferred to the accounts of three lakh 21 thousand 792 families. That means a total amount of Rs 532.22 crore was transferred to the accounts of seven lakh 60 thousand 321 families affected by the flood.
In the meeting, Joint Secretary of Disaster Management Department, Sahila, while giving information through presentation, said that 18 districts of Bihar have been affected in the second phase. All actions have been taken to help the flood victims as per the Flood Disaster Management Standard Operating Procedure and all possible assistance is being provided to the affected people.
During the review, Special Secretary of Agriculture Department, Virendra Prasad Yadav said that the agriculture sector of 16 districts has been affected due to the floods in the first phase. Due to the second phase of flood, the agricultural sector of 16 districts has been affected, due to which farmers have suffered crop loss. Crop damage has been estimated at Rs 229 crore for the first phase and Rs 261 crore for the second phase. He informed that the department has received an amount of Rs 229 crore for crop damage in the first phase.
During the review, Chief Minister Nitish said that the government is determined to provide all possible assistance to the people of flood affected areas. Since coming into government, we have been continuously ready to help the disaster victims. The amount of crop loss suffered by farmers in flood affected areas must be made available before Diwali. The government is continuously working to provide all types of facilities to the farmers. No one should be left out among the farmers whose crops were damaged during the floods, all the affected families must get the amount. The Agriculture Department should work quickly for this.
