More than 10 people have been injured in the violence that took place during the immersion of the idol of Mother Saraswati in Darbhanga district of Bihar. In view of the attempts to promote violence by spreading propaganda through social media in Darbhanga, the district administration finally had to issue an order for internet ban. Internet service has been halted since Saturday evening due to the ban on social media. This restriction is currently applicable till February 19.

Police said that a case has been registered against the accused. 40 suspects have been arrested. Police have started searching in the area. At least 10 people have been injured in the incident. On Friday, minor clashes between two communities were also reported in Bishanpur and Hayaghat police station areas of Darbhanga.

Stone pelting took place during idol immersion on Friday

Anti-social elements suddenly started pelting stones at the procession going to immerse Saraswati idol in Darbhanga on Friday. Because of this, fighting started between both the parties. About one and a half dozen common people including policemen were injured in this incident. This incident took place near the mosque of Purani Bazar of Bahera police station area. However, as soon as information about the incident was received, Baheda police station, Benipur SDPO Dr. Sumit Kumar, DM Rajeev Roshan and SSP Jagunath Reddy Jalareddy reached the spot and after a lot of effort, pacified both the parties.

Along with the clashes on Thursday, houses were also looted and vandalized.

There was a dispute between two parties during the immersion of Saraswati idol on Thursday in Tarasarai Muria under Sadar police station area in Darbhanga. During this period, stone pelting was also done between the two sides, in which about half a dozen people were injured. The miscreants not only pelted stones but also damaged the Saraswati statue. Local people said that about half a dozen houses were also looted and vandalized. On receiving information about the incident, the police of the local police station and all the senior officials of the district administration reached the spot and controlled the situation.
