Consumer Commission of Muzaffarpur has summoned the Director General of Postal Department, CPMG, PMG, Senior Postal Superintendent, Postmaster Silaut and Income Tax Officer TDS in a matter related to the Postal Department. The Commission has issued orders to all the officers to appear before the Commission on August 29.
The postal department has withheld Rs 43,630 for five years
The case is of Silaut Basudev village of Maniyari police station area. Manju Devi, a resident of Basudev village, says that she had fixed Rs 15 lakh in the post office of her village. She alleges that from 2019 to March 2024, she should get Rs 43630 as interest from the postal department, which she did not get. Manju Devi alleges that she is troubled for this for almost five years. She informed the department about this many times, but the department did nothing in this matter. Manju Devi is an elderly and sick woman, despite this she is making rounds of offices, but no one listened to her. Finally, tired and exhausted, the woman appealed to the Consumer Commission.
Human Rights Commission took cognizance
Consumer Commission advocate S.K. Jha filed a complaint before the District Consumer Commission on 11 May 2024. After the complaint was filed, the Commission heard the entire matter and took cognizance of the matter. The Commission has summoned the Director General of the Postal Department, CPMG, PMG, Senior Postal Superintendent, Postmaster Silaut and Income Tax Officer TDS. The Commission has issued an order to all the officers to appear before the Commission on 29 August. Now on August 29, all the opposing parties have been ordered to appear before the Commission and present their side. In this regard, the complainant’s advocate S.K. Jha says that this entire matter clarifies the negligence of the Postal Department and this is a lax system of the Postal Department and the Income Tax Department.
