A two and a half year old child from Motihari district has been confirmed with AES, after which the total number of cases in SKMCH has increased to 24. However, all the children have recovered and returned and so far no child has died of AES this year. The health department has been put on alert.

This year, half of the 24 cases are from Muzaffarpur and many districts of Bihar are in the grip of AES, a deadly disease affecting children. After confirmation of 4 new cases in the last 5 days, the health department has been put on alert. According to the hospital staff, 24 cases have been reported so far, out of which about 12 cases are from various blocks of Muzaffarpur, while the other 12 cases have come from Motihari, Shivhar, Vaishali, Sitamarhi and Gopalganj districts. The latest case is from Motihari district in which AES has been confirmed in a two and a half year old child. In this regard, the doctor says that the child has been discharged in the evening after recovery. This case has been confirmed by nodal officer Dr. Satish Kumar. Now there are 4 cases in Motihari alone.
