âNot today, I was waiting for this for 36 years. A wait which did not seem to be ending. But at five in the evening, a day before Babujiâs birth centenary, I got the news of âBharat Ratnaâ being given to me by a trusted source. Despite having the desire to believe, I was hesitant. I was trying to find out in every way, but was not able to be sure. It was not so easy to be sure, because earlier many times the matter had come to an end. There was confusion in my mind for about three and a quarter hours. Then when I got information from the media that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has made this announcement, then what can I sayâŚâ- Ramnath Thakurâs throat choked with joy. Ramnath Thakur is a politician who has achieved a position himself along with the son of Jannayak Karpuri Thakur. He is also the national general secretary of the ruling Janata Dal United in Bihar and a Rajya Sabha MP of the party. But, when it came to his father and the highest honor of the country, his happiness could be gauged from his words. He was speaking every line in happiness.
What was said for the central government and PM Modi?
He says â â36 years of waiting is a lot. But, everyoneâs time comes. It may be late, but it is better. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made us happy by announcing this on the eve of Babujiâs 100th birth anniversary. I I donât just want to say thank you on my own behalf. I want to express my gratitude to the Government of India on behalf of all the people of Bihar. On behalf of the socialists across the country, I thank you for this. Socialism has been established through this honour. Every Bihari expresses its gratitude to the Government of India for finally honoring its leader and giving due respect to the Government of India.â
From the time you wake up till the morning â this is all I can say
Ramnath says â âAs the son of Jananayak Karpuri Thakur, I can say today that I am feeling like âWhen you wake up, itâs morningâ. We have tried to move away from the values ââthat he lived by when he left this world. Didnât. Whatever he got, he got from his fame. His name didnât and doesnât need any recognition, but this honor was awaited for 36 years. So, this is a dawn.â
