Giving symbol means giving permission from the party to the candidate for nomination on the seat. The Grand Alliance has so far not been able to distribute the 40 Lok Sabha seats of Bihar among its constituent parties. There is talk of partition in a day or two. On the other hand, information has also come to light about many candidates getting symbols from Rashtriya Janata Dal President Lalu Prasad Yadav. On the other hand, the major parties of the National Democratic Alliance, which three days ago divided the 40 Lok Sabha seats of Bihar among its constituents and left out Pashupati Kumar Paras, are not even able to announce the candidates. It is understandable that seat sharing takes time, but now why the delay in the list of candidates? In finding the answer to this question, it is becoming clear that something has been overlooked while making the distribution. Ignoring the strong claims of the candidates, the seats were distributed among the parties. The announcement can happen any time, but the matter is stuck in this. There was no commotion after the names were announced, hence the churning continued yesterday also. Even today it is going on everywhere throughout the day.
One seat each is confirmed, Manjhi has filed nominations
There could have been a crisis regarding seat distribution and Karakat also, but now there is no discussion on these two seats. The party has declared Hindustani Awam Morcha’s surveyor Jitan Ram Manjhi as its candidate from Gaya seat. Elections in Gaya are in the first phase. He will file nomination on March 28. The election on the Karakat seat of former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha is in the seventh phase. There is no doubt on his seat also. Manjhi and Kushwaha have got only one seat each. The crisis is divided between the remaining three parties Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal United and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas). The situation is that it would not be surprising if any BJP leader gets a chance from Chirag Paswan’s party.
What will veterans like Shahnawaz, Sushil Modi do?
BJP played an important role in seat distribution. In the last Lok Sabha elections, BJP had fielded candidates on 17 seats and all had won. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United fielded 17 candidates, out of which 16 won. LJP had fielded six candidates, all of them won. This time one ticket was deducted from LJP’s account. JDU got a chance only on 16th. BJP kept 17 seats. So much was done, but many veterans were ignored. The maximum discussion within BJP is on Bhagalpur seat. JDU had this seat last time. This time also she was left out. This seat has been held by BJP stalwarts like Sushil Kumar Modi, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain. Sushil Modi has also been an MP from Patna Sahib. He and Shahnawaz Hussain were not even sent to Rajya Sabha. Apart from Bhagalpur, Shahnawaz Hussain is also a big name for Kishanganj, but both the seats were given to JDU.
