Bihar News: Three people, including a metro loco pilot, died in a major accident in Patna on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday, while five are admitted in a very critical condition. The accident took place in Tunnel-1 under construction of Patna Metro.

Just like the brakes of a moving train, a similar accident happened in the under-construction tunnel of Patna Metro. In this accident that took place on Patna University route, one died on the spot, while six were taken to the hospital. Two of them died in the hospital. This accident occurred due to brake failure of the hydraulic loco used to transport goods. At the time of the accident, about 25 laborers were working in the tunnel near NIT turn on Ashok Rajpath. The workers created a ruckus after this accident, saying that no Patna Metro official was present at the time of work.

The accident happened inside the tunnel around 10 pm, while it took more than an hour for information to come outside. After this, first the police arrived and then the rescue work could start at midnight. Success was achieved in evacuating two laborers who were working on building tunnel for Patna Metro on Ashok Rajpath. Patna Police said that two injured persons have been admitted to PMCH. Among those who died, helper Manoj, Vijay and Shyambabu, all three laborers, are residents of Orissa. Among those killed, one was a loco pilot while the other was a TBM operator. Workers told that 25 more people were working in the tunnel at the time of the accident. The workers working said that suddenly the brakes of the loco failed and due to which the incident occurred.
