The event was organized with the joint efforts of Universal Satyug Stage India, Dhanush Kutir Ashram (Dakshineshwar Kali Ghat) and Ganga Archak Dal. A large crowd of devotees had gathered at the ghat to watch the Aarti scene. Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Fair will run for 32 days this year. Under which Narayani Ganga Maha Aarti is being organized under the International Save Ganga Maha Campaign sponsored by Universal Satyug Stage India Trust. This grand event has been conducted by Lord Ram alias Balak Baba, head of Dhanush Kutir Ashram, Dakshineswar Kali Ghat and his Ganga Archak Dals.

Ganga Maha Aarti was performed with full rituals on the lines of Ganga Aarti of Varanasi, the land of Kashi Vishwanath. Because the worship of Ganga by learned pundits along with chanting of mantras and lighting of lamps filled the devotees with spiritual energy. Due to the enthusiasm of the devotees being at its peak, the entire atmosphere during the Maha Aarti became devotional. Thousands of devotees including women, children and men participated in this event of Ganga Maha Aarti and expressed their respect and paid obeisance to Ganga at Ganga Ghat. This Ganga Maha Aarti of Harihar Kshetra Sonpur Fair not only awakens spiritual consciousness but also gives the message of Ganga conservation and environmental awareness.

By performing Aarti of Goddess Ganga daily on the banks of river Ganga, one never feels lack of anything in life. By bathing and donating Ganga water one gets freedom from all kinds of sins. The tradition of performing Ganga Maha Aarti and taking bath on the banks of river Ganga located in Harihar area Sonpur has been going on for centuries. Because she emerged from the feet of Lord Vishnu and resides in the hair of Lord Shiva and saves humans on earth. If the stories described are to be believed, the meaning of Harihar area is that the origin place of Hari (Lord Vishnu) and Hari (Lord Shiva) is in Sonpur itself.
