The look of this temple is being changed from outside. Pandal decorations are visible like in cities. Maha Aarti is being organized on the lines of Banaras. But, instead of its new form, its centuries-old image exists in the minds of the devotees. For 600 years, devotees from Bihar, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Nepal and Bangladesh have been coming to Purani Durga Sthan located at Bakhri Bazaar in Begusarai district for Tantra Sadhana. This sadhana may not be in a new form, but it is believed that even today, to prove their tantric powers, the devotees visit the red-faced Goddess Bhagwati Devi who killed Mahishasura here on the night of Maha Ashtami. Men and women come to the Ashti (place) of the goddess to pray for the birth of a child and relief from serious diseases. Along with this, it is also famous for sacrifice.
Devotees come to fulfill their wishes
It is said that the Parmar dynasty had established this temple. Many times the number of devotees here crosses lakhs to visit Goddess Bhagwati for Tantra Sadhana and fulfillment of wishes. At this Durga place, after worshiping the Mahagauri form of the Goddess on the night of Maha Ashtami, Tantra practitioners attain success in Tantra Mantra. This Durga temple is famous not only in the surrounding states but also in the neighboring countries for the accomplishment of tantra-mantra and fulfillment of wishes. Every year, devotees come here from far and wide, who get success in Tantra-Mantra. On the day of Maha Ashtami, fifty-six types of offerings are made to the Mother Goddess. Pandit Shashikant Mishra, resident of Bakhri, says – Here Mother Bhagwati fulfills the wishes of the people as soon as possible. Devotees come especially for the purpose of having children and getting relief from diseases.
Team from Banaras is performing Maha Aarti
The glory of the old Durga temple Shaktipeeth is unique. Tarun Tiwari, who came from Banarasi Assi Ghat, told that a team of five pundits has arrived here to perform Durga Maha Aarti. Local people directly say that in today’s scientific era, whether people believe it or not, the practice of Tantra-Mantra is taking place here. On the day of Maha Ashtami, devotees reach here for Tantra Siddhi. Bahura Mama here was a practitioner of Shabar Mantra and a devotee of Mother Durga. At that time she came forward as a woman power and formed a team of women. He was the director of the school at that time. Many of his stories are famous. People say that whoever makes a wish to the mother, their wish is fulfilled. Especially those women who are not able to have a child, if they come with all their heart and make a wish on the night of Ashtami, then it is definitely fulfilled.
