When all the eight who came in the procession were taken hostage, the police arrived
On Thursday, the girl’s side took hostage the boy’s side who had arrived for marriage in Nalanda. The case pertains to Dumrawan Mahadalit Tola under Dumrawan Panchayat of Deepnagar police station area. Someone informed the local police about this, after which the police reached the spot and took the girl’s side and the boy’s side along with them to the police station. Police inquiry revealed that Ramjanm Manjhi and his wife Laxminia Devi, residents of Amauni in Nawada, had reached Devsharan Manjhi’s house in Dumrawan village at around 3 am on Thursday morning with their son’s wedding procession. The baraatis were welcomed by the girl side with great fanfare. When the marriage ceremony was about to begin, then only the bridegroom was suspicious. The controversy of changing the bridegroom started. The girl side refused the marriage saying that the boy whose marriage was fixed should be brought. After this, efforts were made by the boy’s side to divert the matter. When things didn’t work out, the girls took all the eight people in the procession hostage and started creating ruckus.
