Motihari’s notorious criminal Kunal Singh has been sentenced to life imprisonment by District and Sessions Judge Devraj Tripathi in the AK-47 recovery case. Apart from this, he has also been sentenced to a fine of forty two thousand rupees under various sections. The court has also said in its decision that if the fine is not paid, the criminal Kunal Singh will have to serve additional punishment.
Sentence given within just 14 months
Notorious criminal Kunal Singh has more than 17 criminal cases registered against him. Within just 75 days of Motihari SP Kantesh Mishra joining the district, Kunal Singh was raided in a filmy style at his house and arrested along with AK 47, foreign pistol, two loaded magazines and more than 20 walkie-talkies. After this, while giving information, the SP had said that in this case, a speedy trial will be conducted against the criminal Kunal Singh and he will be sentenced in just 14 months. On May 7, the court convicted Kunal Singh on the basis of all the witnesses and evidence, and on May 8, he was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Kunal Kumar Singh, son of Ashrafi Singh, resident of Kudiya Bangri of Pipra Kothi police station, was a resident of an ordinary family. After coming in wrong contact, Kunal Singh first came into limelight by shooting dead Chief Birendra Thakur on May 1, 2015. After that, on January 16, 2017, Raj Kapoor, son of Mukhiya Malti Devi, was shot dead. In that case the police arrested him and sent him to jail. After that, after escaping from Motihari Jail on 27 March 2017, during his appearance in Bettiah Jail on 11 May, notorious criminal Bablu Dubey of North Bihar was shot dead in the court premises.

Notorious Kunal has 17 cases registered against him in different police stations of the district including murder, extortion, attack on police team. He was absconding in the case of firing with AK 47 at Cambridge School in Raxaul and firing on the product team in 2022, in which he was arrested.

SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra made a big strategy with the officers and on March 15, 2023, he was caught with an automatic weapon in a film-style raid at his house.
Policemen in plain clothes had gone to arrest the auto
Police say that the way Motihari Police caught Kunal, this matter started being discussed everywhere. To nab Kunal Singh, police officers in plain clothes reached Kunal’s hideout in an auto. As soon as Motihari police raided Kudiya village of Pipra Kothi police station area, Kunal got an inkling that the people in the auto were not familiar to him and could be policemen. Kunal started running away with his companions, but the policemen chased him and caught him. Police recovered a Czech Republic pistol and several cartridges from his waist on the spot. However, the police were confirmed that Kunal also had an AK-47 rifle. Police conducted a search operation at his hideout and recovered AK-47 rifle, cartridges and walkie talkie.
