Villagers angry on this matter
The case pertains to Bhagwanpur village under Bhagwanpur police station area of Begusarai district, where the police of Excise Department reached to raid a toddy at around 9.30 pm on Sunday. During this he caught Gobind Kumar Chaudhary and Anirudh of Bhagwanpur village. Local people say that one person was caught by the Excise Department from Tadikhana while the other person was caught from Matkora of someone’s marriage. When these two were caught by the police of the Excise Department, the local villagers got enraged and started chasing the police by throwing bamboo and bricks and stones.
Stampede due to police firing
Seeing the deteriorating atmosphere, the police officer of the excise department started firing in the air and both took the arrested person along. As soon as the firing happened, there was a stampede-like situation. People started running here and there to save their lives. According to the local villagers, the police fired about 8 bullets in self-defense. This incident created an atmosphere of panic in the area.

As soon as the incident was reported, AS I Vineet Kumar Jha of Bhagwanpur police station reached the spot. During the investigation, one live cartridge and two hollows were recovered from the spot. Bhagwanpur police station chief Santosh Kumar, who was present at the spot, says that the Excise Department team had gone to raid. The local people opposed the police and attacked the police. Because of this, the police had to do aerial firing in self-defense. Police say that the police is investigating at every point.
