Patna Police on Monday recovered the body of a woman which was being taken for cremation. As soon as the police reached the cremation site, all the people who had come to attend the cremation fled from there. Police have sent the body to Nalanda Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. The body has been identified as Vineeta Kumari (22), wife of Suraj Yadav, resident of Paijaba village of the bypass. The mother of the deceased has filed a case of murder of her daughter for dowry in Bypass police station of Patna. The police is investigating the case

Family members said the murder was done for dowry

Regarding the incident, family members say that Vinita Kumari of Munger was married to Suraj Yadav, resident of Paizaba village of Patna Bypass, about one and a half years ago. The family members alleged that Vineeta Kumari’s in-laws murdered her for dowry. After murder, Vineeta’s body was being quietly taken for cremation. The people of the village somehow informed this matter to Vineeta’s parents. As soon as the information was received, Vineeta’s parents hurriedly reached their daughter’s in-laws house located on the bypass of Patna. The people of the village told that their daughter has been taken for cremation. Upon knowing this, Vineeta’s family informed the bypass police station. As soon as the information was received, the police of Bypass police station took immediate action and took possession of Vineeta’s body which was being taken for cremation.

Police engaged in investigation

Regarding the incident, Bypass police station chief Abhishek Ranjan said that Vineeta’s mother Jamanti Devi has given a written complaint to the police station about her daughter’s murder for dowry. He told that Vineeta’s in-laws were quietly trying to cremate her body, which the police has recovered and sent to NMCH for post-mortem. The police station incharge told that Vineeta’s in-laws are currently absconding.
