The murder of Mamta Devi, a widow of Daulatpur village in Warisaliganj police station area of Nawada district has been solved. In this regard, considering the seriousness of the incident, an SIT was formed under the leadership of SDPO Sadar 2 Hisua Sunil Kumar. On the basis of technical and human information, the SIT has made continuous efforts and successfully solved this incident.

He said that the main reason for the incident is the land dispute that has been going on since 2014. In 2014, Devendra Lal of Daulatpur village in the Varsaliganj police station area was going to register his seven decimal land to Rajendra Singh of his own village, when he was kidnapped, in which the plaintiff of this case, Rajesh Prasad and his brother Vivek Singh were arrested and sent to judicial custody.

This land dispute did not end there and in 2017, Anil Singh, son of Rajendra Singh, the buyer of the said land, was accused of raping a minor girl of the village, for which he was sent to judicial custody. Anil Singh’s wife was declared a witch by the rape victim’s side, led by Bhagwan Singh’s son Vivek Singh, and was paraded around the village publicly.

In this regard, a case was registered in Varsaliganj police station. In response to this incident, in the year 2018, Anil Singh’s son Guddu Kumar, with the help of others, murdered Vivek Singh, in which 11 people of the village were accused after investigation. In the same sequence, in the year 2023, recharge clerk Upendra Singh was shot dead. In which Anil Singh’s son Sudhanshu alias Lala and an accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody.

To end the ongoing dispute over seven decimal land, both the parties reached a mutual agreement and on 29 June 2024, the land was registered in the name of widow Mamta Devi. This was not liked by brother-in-law Rajesh Prasad because Rajesh wanted that if his brother was murdered, then this land should be registered in his name. Due to this, brother-in-law Rajesh Prasad killed Mamta Devi along with his two associates Manoj Singh and his nephew Roshan Singh alias Chirkut and the incident was given a different form that there was a testimony on July 3 and the murder was committed because of this. This was found to be wrong in the investigation because brother-in-law Rajesh Prasad’s statement was under suspicion from the beginning.
