Floods have wreaked havoc in several districts of Bihar. Traffic has come to a halt at many places. Waterlogging has occurred in many schools. Meanwhile, two matric students were swept away after getting trapped in the strong current of water in Munger. The incident occurred on the Bariarpur-Kharagpur main road in the Bariarpur police station area. The two students have been identified as Mukund Kumar (14), son of Baleshwar Paswan, resident of Lohchi of Naki Panchayat and Chahat Kumar, son of Bablu Paswan. Chahat Kumar used to study while staying at his maternal grandmother’s home in Lohchi. Chahat is said to be a resident of Mal Khanpur in Sultanganj.

Regarding the incident, the villagers say that both of them used to come to Bariyarpur daily from Lohchi of Naki Panchayat by bicycle for coaching. Like every day, both the students came to Bariyarpur coaching by bicycle, from where both were returning by bicycle at around 8:00 in the evening. During this time, someone saw both of them floating in the water and raised an alarm. By the time someone could reach to save them, both the students got lost in the flood water.

The search began when he did not return home

When both of them did not reach home late in the evening, the family started searching for them. In this sequence, they came to know that both of them were swept away in the strong current of water near Shivala. After this, divers recovered the bicycle and slippers of the student from the spot but both the students could not be traced. Chahat’s maternal uncle Ankit Kumar told that both Chahat and Mukund had come to Bariyarpur for coaching at 2:00 pm by bicycle. When they did not return home late in the evening, he left from there to search. After coming here, it was found that his bicycle was lying near Sadhu Baba Sthan near Bariyarpur, but both of them could not be traced. Local Vinay Kumar Guddu told that it has been found that two students have been swept away in the flood water here. They are being searched but due to lack of resources, divers have not been able to recover both the students.
