On Monday evening, in Madhurapur village of Bajpatti police station area of Sitamarhi district, one of the two miscreants who had come with the intention of murder was caught and beaten severely by the villagers. While the other criminal managed to escape. Weapons have been recovered from the accused.
According to the information, Jang Bahadur Rai, resident of Rampur Mahuain village of Parihar police station area, and his companion reached Madhurapur village riding a bike. They were following Gannaur Mahato with the intention of killing him. When Gannaur Mahato reached near the Durga temple, the miscreants stopped him and pointed a gun at his temple. Due to the alertness of the villagers, a crowd gathered on the spot. One miscreant was caught and beaten severely. However, the second criminal managed to escape with the bike.
On receiving the information, Bajpatti police station incharge Saroj Kumar and police forces reached the spot. Seriously injured criminal Jang Bahadur Rai was admitted to the local CSC, from where he was referred in a critical condition. At present, he is undergoing treatment in police custody.
The police have recovered a country-made pistol and a live cartridge from the arrested criminal. The police is now trying to identify and arrest the absconding criminal. Police Station Head Saroj Kumar said that other possible reasons and incidents are being investigated in depth. The wisdom and quick action of the villagers averted a possible murder. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area after this incident, but due to the vigilance and action of the police, the situation is under control.
