Patna High Court has granted bail to IAS SM Raju. Justice Rajesh Kumar Sinha’s bench heard the IAS SM Raju case on Thursday. The court heard the arguments of both the parties. After this the reserve was already kept. Granted bail for hearing on Thursday. The court said that Sharad Kumar Jha and KP Ramaiah, directors of IIIM Limited, have already got bail in this case. That’s why IAS SM Raju would have been given bail on a bail bond of Rs 50,000.

Court has directed IAS SM Raju not to remain absent on court dates without sufficient reasons. If he is not physically present on two consecutive dates, his bail will be cancelled. Along with this, it was also ordered that if he tampers with evidence or witnesses in any way, then an appeal can be made to cancel his bail.

Went to jail on January 20 this year

Let us tell you that in the scam of crores of rupees in Bihar Mahadalit Development Mission, IAS SM Raju, the former Chief Executive Officer and the then Principal Secretary of SC ST Welfare Department, will be arrested on January 20, 2023. Was sent to jail. After this, IAS SM Raju appealed for bail in the Patna High Court.

Allegations of irregularities in scholarship payment

SM Raju, a 1991 batch IAS officer, was accused of irregularities in the payment of scholarships to students studying in various technical institutions in the 2013-14 financial year. The government had got the investigation done by the Vigilance Department. The Vigilance Bureau had registered a case against him on November 29, 2016. After the scam came to light, the Nitish government faced a lot of embarrassment. By the way, when he was the District Magistrate in Gaya, there was a scam of crores of rupees while he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Municipal Corporation. The then Deputy Administrator Arvind Chowdhary had registered a case against SM Raju in the Civil Line Police Station.
