Notorious Naxalite turned leader Vinod Marandi has surrendered in the court. Although Civil Lines police had laid siege outside the court to arrest him, their siege did not work and Vinod Marandi secretly surrendered. It is said that Vinod Marandi has been sent to jail several times before. In the year 2020, he has also contested the legislative elections from Gurua Assembly. Vinod Marandi was also associated with Pappu Yadav’s Jan Adhikar Party. Once upon a time, there used to be tremendous fear in the Naxal affected areas of the district because of its name. Recently, the name also came into discussion in the murder case of land businessman Anwar Ali of Sihuli village of Amas.

Police was looking for Vinod Marandi

Police of the city’s Civil Lines police station say that accused Vinod Marandi was wanted in several cases. At present, the district police was looking for Sudhir Verma alias Vinod Marandi in Guraru police station for breaking into the plaintiff’s house and assaulting him in a case of non-registration of land. In the related matter, Aditya Kumar advocate had filed the case in 2022. In the FIR lodged, Aditya Kumar says that his father had made the agreement for the house of Guraru in the name of Sudhir Verma alias Vinod Marandi, but when the money was not paid as per the agreement, we refused to register it. In protest against this, Vinod Marandi along with his two other associates carried out the incident of assault.

Police kept waiting outside the court

Civil Lines Inspector Pankaj Kumar says that the police was deployed outside the court to arrest Vinod Marandi in the case registered in Guraru. There was information that Vinod Marandi was going to come to the court. As soon as he got wind of the police siege, he surrendered in the court.
